Lead Pastor  

Pastor Ken Carney has been the Lead Pastor of our fellowship since 1997, after serving for many years as a missionary and in pastoral service for the Church of the Nazarene. Ken and his wife, Ruth, are the parents of four adult sons and grandparents to eight grandchildren. Ken is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene and a graduate of Nazarene Bible College, currently serving on their Board of Trustees.  Ruth serves on the Board of Trustees for Southern Nazarene University.  

Associate Pastor of Family Ministry

Pastor Jay Vestal joined the FirstNaz team in 2013, coming to us from West Virginia where he served as a Senior Pastor. Jay’s story is unique in that he came to know the Lord at the altar of FirstNaz many years ago, and answered the call into ministry several years later. Jay is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene, completing his Bachelors at Oklahoma State University and his ministry preparation through Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Jay and his wife, Carol, have four children (Tyler, Acie, Zach, and Tehya).  



Associate Pastor of Care and Visitation


Pastor Conley Henderson has been with our staff since 2006, after retiring from full time pastoral service with the Church of the Nazarene. In addition to pastoring in several states, Pastor Conley and his wife, Carolyn served as missionaries in American Samoa.  They have two adult children and four grandchildren. Conley is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.

Children’s Ministry Director

Growing up in the Church of the Nazarene, Jessica has been involved in ministry all her life. Her husband, Chuck, and their two children are a vital part of our church family and  leadership.  Jessica serves as the Director of Children’s Ministries, coordinating our major children’s events throughout the year, including our Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs.

Worship Ministry Director

Doug Lackey joined the staff at FirstNaz in the fall of 2017, bringing with him 29 years of experience. With his background in church leadership, as well as multimedia production, Doug brings a wide variety of music to our Worship Service. His wife, Shelly, over sees our Worship Cafe’ which provides a homemade breakfast every Sunday morning.  They have one adult son, Joe, who is a graduate student at UALR.
